The conference was officially opened by President Hakainde Hichilema, who emphasized that “energy, and electricity in particular, is everything.” He reaffirmed the Zambian Government’s commitment to implementing reforms that attract investment and improve livelihoods, while calling for stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors to address Africa’s energy challenges.

During the conference, GET FiT Zambia provided an update on the program’s progress. A key highlight was the significant strides made in 2025, despite the complexities typically associated with project finance deals. Since the onboarding of lenders, several critical milestones have been achieved—marking important progress in Zambia’s energy transition journey.
