Research on Intermittent Renewable Energy’s Impact on Hydropower Operations
A new study supported by GET FiT shows that increased solar power could bring significant benefits for Zambia. While a higher share of variable renewable energy will affect the operation of the country’s hydropower plants, the analysis indicates that the challenges are manageable, and that solar power could help reduce power sector costs, lower import needs, and strengthen Zambia’s energy supply.
